MERCEDES-BENZ ARENA GOES DARK FOR EARTH HOUR

Shanghai, China – On March 24th at 8:30 p.m. the Mercedes-Benz Arena joined the Oriental Pearl Tower by switching off its lights in support of World Wildlife Fund’s Earth Hour.  WWF’s Earth Hour is a global event “urging individuals, businesses and governments worldwide to move forward the conversations and solutions we need, to build a healthy, sustainable future for all.”This is the 10th anniversary of "Earth Hour" entering Chinaand this year’s China theme is "Start my 60+ life."

Mercedes-Benz Arena Green supports and practices sustainability through various Mercedes-Benz Arena led projects.On March 17th Mercedes-Benz Arena Green teamed up with its partner, Coca-Colaat the JJ Lin concert to record environmental declarations of more than 20 groups of fans who joined the call to action. The venue’s official concessions and cateringcompanyKofler&Kompanie, also put environmental tips on all its food and beverage outlets to call attention to support waste sorting and recyclable packaging.General Manager, Mario Zhang, said “We support Mercedes-Benz Arena and its green efforts and at Kofler&Kompanie we want to do our part to make the world more sustainable.  We do this by using biodegradable cutlery, cups, and plates and waste sorting by separating wet waste from recycled waste.”

 
Mercedes-Benz Arena Green and students from Wellington International School participated in the Earth Hour light up hope by forming the words “60+SH".
