ONE OK ROCK MELTS HEARTS AND SCREAMS THROUGH SHANGHAI DEBUT AT THE MERCEDES-BENZ ARENA
Last night, the Japanese rock band, ONE OK ROCK, which performs in both English and Japanese, opened up their China debut at Shanghai’s Mercedes-Benz Arena. The beloved Japanese rock band kicked off the beginning of their 2016-2017 World Tour in Shanghai playing old favorites and promoting their newly released album “Ambitions”.
ONE OK ROCK developed in 2005 and debuted in 2007 after Drummer Tomoya Kanki became an official member. The band’s name, One Ok Rock, comes from the time “one-o’clock”, which was when the band would practice on weekends in Tokyo, Japan. After language confusion between English and Japanese, the band name eventually turned into “one-ok-rock”.
The band’s irresistible sound comes from four band members who equally jam as hard as their drummer. Their musical range extends through soft melodic love songs into heavy drumming and screaming choruses. Cell phone lights’ lit up the arena as lead singer Takahiro Moriuchi melted the hearts and screamed the faces off of their die-hard fans.
One Ok Rock has built up an extensive fan base from Japan all the way to North America. Next year, the band will venture off onto a 2017 North American tour and return back to Japan promoting their new album “Ambitions”, available now.
